Pia Dandiya (FL-22)
Red to Blue
Pia Dandiya is a former teacher, school founder, and Democratic candidate running for Congress in Florida's 22nd Congressional District. A first-generation American born and raised in Palm Beach County to parents who immigrated from India, Dandiya began her career as a Teach for America corps member before founding a public high school and becoming one of the youngest principals in the country. Eighty-six percent of her students came from low-income households, and under her leadership, every single graduate earned admission to college. She later served as a White House Fellow and went on to lead public sector initiatives at Apple, working with state leaders to modernize public education, healthcare, and government systems.
FL-22 is an open seat that stretches from Southwest Florida to western Palm Beach County. Dandiya faces an August 18 Democratic primary, and if elected, she would be the first South Asian American to represent Florida in Congress. The DCCC added her to its Red to Blue program in July 2026, and flipping FL-22 is essential to winning back a Democratic House majority in 2026.
