Kristen McDonald Rivet (MI-08)
Incumbent
Congresswoman Kristen McDonald Rivet represents Michigan’s 8th Congressional District and grew up in a working–class household in small–town Michigan. After becoming the first generation in her family to go to college, she dedicated her career to fighting for families like her own. In the State Senate, Kristen led the charge to pass the largest tax cut for working families in state history, repealed the 1931 abortion ban, and introduced a plan to address the growing childcare crisis. Now, in Congress, she’s working to level the playing field for Mid–Michiganders. Today, Kristen serves as a member of the House Agriculture and Transportation & Infrastructure Committees, focusing on expanding economic opportunity for working families. She has supported pro-innovation legislation across multiple sectors, such as the American Energy Independence and Affordability Act to advance clean-energy technology, and the Biomanufacturing and Jobs Act of 2025 to bolster America’s leadership in biomanufacturing.
In 2024, Kristen McDonald Rivet won Michigan’s 8th Congressional District, defeating her Republican opponent 53.4% to 46.6% and helping Democrats hold a critical Midwestern seat. In 2026, Republicans are targeting the district as they look to expand their House majority.
