Jessica Killin is an Army veteran, former White House chief of staff, and Democratic candidate running for Congress in Colorado's 5th Congressional District. A fourth-generation Coloradan raised in Colorado Springs by two public school educators, Killin earned an ROTC scholarship and went on to serve as a U.S. Army captain and paratrooper, leading soldiers as a military police officer during peacekeeping missions in the Balkans and NATO expansion throughout Europe. She later worked at USAA, served as chief of staff for three members of Congress, and most recently served as chief of staff to Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff.

CO-05, based in Colorado Springs, has never been represented by a Democrat since its creation in the early 1970s — but the Republican margin of victory has shrunk from 31 points in 2016 to 14 points in 2024, putting the district on the national map. Killin faces Republican incumbent Jeff Crank in November, and flipping CO-05 is essential to winning back a Democratic House majority in 2026.
