Denise Powell is a former corporate executive, small business owner, and grassroots organizer running for Congress in Nebraska's 2nd Congressional District. After leaving a successful career in corporate America, she founded an organization that has supported hundreds of Nebraskans running for local office, protected public schools and the families they serve, and helped stop extremists from passing abortion bans in the state. If elected, she would be the first Latina to represent Nebraska in Congress.  

NE-02 is an open seat — five-term Republican incumbent Don Bacon is not running for reelection — in a district that Kamala Harris won by over five points in 2024. The district is also one of only two in the country that awards an Electoral College vote independently of the statewide result, making its congressional race doubly consequential. Cook Political rates NE-02 as Lean Democratic, and flipping it is essential to winning back a Democratic House majority.
